THE Kisutu Magistrate's Court has adjourned the case against five  Development Entrepreneurship for Community Initiative (DECI) directors  charged with 118m/- theft  to September 15, when it will start hearing  defence witnesses. 
"Your honour, this case has come before you for mention, we request  another date to begin hearing defence witnesses," State Attorney Prosper  Mwangamila told the court. 
The accused who are pastors of different churches in the city are  Jackson Mtares, Dominic Kigendi, Samuel Mtares, Timotheo Ole Loitingye  and Arbogast Francis. 
The accused are charged with conspiracy to commit the offence of stealing between December 1 and 8, 2009.  
The accused allegedly stole 118,440,000/- at Standard Chartered Bank, Kariakoo Branch in Ilala District.  
It is also alleged that between 2007 and March 2009, the accused  operated a pyramid scheme, collecting money from individuals and  promising them to receive 'bigger' sums in return to their investment.  
The prosecution further alleged that the accused accepted deposits  from the general public without a licence, contrary to Section 911 8(2)  of the Banking and Financial Institutions Act number 5 of 2006.  
Meanwhile, a businessman, Boniface Kisubi (20), has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for armed robbery.  
Kinondoni Resident Magistrate Rugemalila Jackline said "after  reviewing the evidence, I came to the conclusion that the accused is  guilty as charged. I am sentencing him to 30 years imprisonment to deter  others like him." 
It was alleged that on January 21, 2010 at about 6:00am at Magomeni  Jangwani area in Dar es Salaam, the accused stole a gold chain valued at  2.4m/- from Zaituni Mkasi. 
In another case, a businessman, Freeman Tarimo (29), was arraigned  before the same court for causing grievous bodily harm to Jevenaris  Ngopi. 
The accused pleaded "not guilty" and was remanded after failure to meet bail conditions.
