THE National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has donated desks worth 2m/- to the Mwananyamala Kisiwani Primary School in Dar es Salaam as part of the firm's corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme and the firm's 40th anniversary celebrations.
NBC Director of Audit Severin Ndaskoi presented the donation to the Makumbusho Ward Councillor, Mr Christopher Mutayoba, on behalf of the school over the weekend.
"NBC is proud to present these desks to the Mwanayamala Kisiwani Primary School. The donation is a response to the needs of the pupils at the school which was built this year.
"We believe the support will improve the learning environment for the pupils and the young generation," Mr Ndaskoi said.
NBC has set aside 100m/- for various community support activities as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations.
Mr Mutayoba, thanked NBC on behalf of the residents of Mwananyamala Kisiwani for the much needed donation, saying some of the pupils were sitting on the floor.
He said the school had only 12 classrooms that cater for 1,800 pupils.
