TWO people were brought before the Kisutu Resident Magistrate's Court charged with five counts of forgery and stealing 29.3m/- from Access Bank headquarters.
According to state attorney Frida Mwera the accused are Deogratius Njuu and Maombi Mayeye.
On the first count, it is alleged that on unknown date on May 2011 at Access Bank Head Quarters at Makumbusho area in Dar es salaam, the accused jointly conspired to forge bank documents.
On the second it is alleged that on 25 May 2011, the accused with an intent to defraud forged a banker's cheque number 001066 worth 8,690,00/-, purporting to show that the same was genuine cheque legally authorised by Access Bank to one Deocar Bazil while they knew that it was not true.
On the third count it is alleged that on May 27 this year Njuu and Mayeye forged cheque no. 001084 worth 8,950,000.40/-, purporting to show that the same was genuine and legally authorised by the bank to Esther Kiga while they knew that it was not true.
On the fourth count it was alleged that on the same date with intent to defraud the duo forged bank cheque no. 001079 worth 9,750,000.00/- to one Halima Karim.
Lastly between May and June the accused jointly attempted to to steal 29,340,740.40 the property of Access Bank Tanzania Limited.
The accused pleaded not guilty to all charge s and Resident Magistrate Bingi Mwashabala adjourned to June 28 for another mention.
Meanwhile, two businessmen Hassan Abdallah (32)and Abdallah Mwingereza (35) were arraigned before the same court charged with two counts of armed robbery and gang rape.
Public prosecutor Patrick Malogoi alleged before Resident Rita Tarimo that on March 27 this year at KAM Guest House Mbagala Saba Saba area the accused stole mobile phones and cash worth 66000/- belonging to James Jassu and Flora Eliudi.
It is further alleged that before and after such stealing the accused cut their victims with bush knives and pointed a pistol at them in order to steal the said property.
On the second count the accused are charged with gang raping one Flora Eliudi.
The accused denied both counts and the case was adjourned to June 28 this year for another mention.
