BANK STAFF THREATENED WITH KNIFE

Armed robbers have raided a Leeds bank, threatening staff with a knife and stealing cash.
The raid at the bank in Harrogate Road, Chapel Allerton, happened at about 0945 BST on Tuesday.

Officers said one raider went into the branch and threatened a security guard and a cashier with a knife, while the second man waited at the door.

The two raiders, both wearing balaclavas, fled the scene with a "substantial" amount of money.

It is thought they drove away in a silver VW Jetta, which was later found burned out in the Gledhow area.

Officers have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
