Tanzania: Ecobank's Expansion Drive in Full Swing

Ecobank 's plan to widen services in the country is in full gear with three more branches scheduled for opening soon, the bank's Executive Director, Mr Samuel Ayim said in Dar es Salaam over the weekend. "Three more branches in Dar es Salaam will be operational by the end of this year," Mr Ayim said, hinting that effective next year, the bank will roll out its services in Arusha, Mwanza and other regions in the country.
"The objective is to position ourselves to serve better," he said, adding that Ecobank has proved that Africans can work together and create excellence.

He said the prime factor behind the creation of Ecobank was to have a world class African bank to help in the economic and financial integration of Africa as well as the development of the continent.
Mr Ayim described the bank as the widest networked in Africa, "Africa is our strategy Africa is our home ... we are here to stay."
The 750-branch group boasts of over 12 billion US dollars in total assets, 1.3 billion US dollars in equity, over three million customers across, 1.1 million cards and 700 ATMs across Africa.
The group emphasises on compliance and high standards of governance and it is one of the first banks in Africa to adopt the International Financial Reporting Standards and the only bank in the continent that has adopted ISO Code of Conduct regarding corporate governance and reporting.
Ecobank is a full-service bank providing a broad range of products and services to governments, financial institutions, multinationals, international organizations, medium, small and micro businesses and individuals.
Listed on three stock exchanges, Ecobank is a leading Pan-African bank with operations in 32 countries across the continent. It started operations in Tanzania last year.
