CRDB Bank ATMs now accept cash deposits

A fresh banking easiness for CRDB Bank customers have seen the day through the introduction of upgraded Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) that accept cash deposits as well.

It comes as another historic milestone for the CRDB Bank, as it becomes the first bank in Africa South of the Sahara to introduce depository ATMs, with technical features that would enable customers to undertake cash deposits and automatically get their accounts credited.
?
Describing the new services, CRDB Bank Managing Director Dr Charles Kimei said: ``It will give the Bank`s customers more flexibility on when and where they can do their depositing and reduce queues in banking halls.

It will also be of great advantage for businesses that operate during long weekends and public holidays and require safe depository for their sales.``
?
He added: ``Depositing money through ATMs has a lot of advantages. A customer can save time by depositing at an ATM point, a process that takes less than a minute to complete and would get a receipt showing the amount that has been deposited.``
?
After a customer has inserted notes, the ATM counts the notes and automatically issues?a receipt showing the deposited amount.

A customer can also use the same ATM to get other services that include funds transfer, bills payment, balance enquiry and mini-statement.?

According to the Bank`s CEO, depository ATMs will be marked EASY DEPOSIT for easy identification by customers. He said only CRDB Bank`s TemboCard and TemboCardVisa holders will have access to the service, ``24 hours seven days a week.``
?
This new development adds to a list of previous achievements that have positioned the Bank as the most innovative in the country.

CRDB Bank was the first bank in Tanzania to link its branch network electronically making it the backbone of electronic funds transfer in the country.

However, for customer to get that service, one has to apply for it at the nearest CRDB`s Bank branch.
?
The Bank was also the first to offer customers banking services through their mobile phones using the Bank`s CRDB SMS Banking services, also the first in the country to introduce?proprietary smart card, TemboCard, which, was launched in 2002.
?
Dr Kimei said the service is currently being offered at?Azikiwe and Kijitonyama branches in Dar es Salaam but would later be rolled out to more branches.
?
During a ceremony to launch the relocated CRDB Bank`s Vijana Branch recently, the Vice- President Dr Ali Mohammed Shein commended the Bank for its remarkable achievements.

The VP`s remarks came after the Bank`s Managing Director informed him, among other things, that the Bank`s total assets exceeded 1 trillion in June, 2007, again making it the first bank in Tanzania to attain such an achievement.
