LOANS worth more than 519.09m/- were extended to different entrepreneurs in Tandahimba District this year.

Mnyamagola said CRDB Bank Mtwara Branch issued 265.7m/-, while the National Microfinance Bank (NMB) offered 313.39m/-.
She said the loans were distributed to 31 groups of entrepreneurs and 496 individuals in 10 wards. The district has 22 wards.
Meanwhile, Tandahimba District Executive Director
(DED) Gebra Msuya, said plans for the district to establish a community bank were at an advanced stage.
He said the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) has already issued green-light for the bank to commence at a capital of 115m/-.
"We have spent over 20.534m/- on renovation of the bank building. We are now looking for qualified staff to man the bank, especially accountants and the manager".
"We have also spent over 87.79m/- on software. It is our hope that bank will soon open its doors to the public," he said.
Since its establishment 10 years ago, Tandahimba
District has been relying on Newala District for banking services.
