Rural banking in Aberdeenshire is being bolstered with the launch of a new mobile branch which will serve customers in 18 communities.
The Bank of Scotland mobile bank was opened in Oldmeldrum on Monday by First Minister Alex Salmond.
Since the closure of the local Clydesdale branch almost a year ago, residents have had to travel five miles to Inverurie to do their banking.
The mobile service will now tour the area five days a week.
Mr Salmond said he was delighted the mobile branch was "open for business".
Ken Lynch, Bank of Scotland regional sales manager, added: "We are delighted to be able to provide this new services which will be an absolute lifeline to customers in rural areas who can't make it to one of our local branches."
